Swoop 170 owner here!
Interesting topic.

The mullet option crossed my mind a few times. Not sure whether it will benefit me as much. Pretty sure to be a zero KOM holder :winkie:
I do recognize the pedal stroke risk though.

Any images of the head tube crack issues?

Most KOMs are from 27/27 era on the trails away from lifts and shuttle roads where Pro riders don't practice as much :)
Besides rolling over stuff easier in straight line, 29" front with shorter fork feels good on flat-ish enduro style trails like Finale. I'm sure 170mm fork would be better for DH type trails (It was 180mm in 27/27 config).

Interesting read, proper use of an enduro bike :-q

Any comments on the Guide RS brakes? The Guides are not so highly rated typically.

I suppose the simple answer is that to get such a list of KOM's you do less braking 8)
But for one thing you mention the brake pads. Do you use the copper free pads?

Enjoy!!

I'm happy with the Guides, have never had any problems. A bit more power would be nice, on the other hand, heavy braking translates to more fatigue, Guides provide enough power for my riding style and fitness level.
I have no experience with other brakes, would be interesting to try Shimanos but I'm not sure with all the wondering bite point reports. Consistent bite point is very important for me.

Haven't tried copper free pads, I tnink they are out of stock every time I make an order.

Mooie doelmatige keuze!

Then you can consider ZEE or Saint, the wandering bitepiont-issue is from M6/7/8/9000 and up. Zee is M640, Saint is M820 (same as the old XT M785)

Also depends on rider weight. A Guide will stop you as fast as an 90kg rider with codes. You could put Guide RE (old code) calipers on it to make them almost as powerful as a pair of codes.

Love your bikes!

Nice bike. Not so good about 2x cracks.
Looks like 3x photo at Finale, including the famous bunker on top of Nato Base.

50 to 75 rides.
Are these days or the number of rides? Do you count each individual uplift ride in Finale is a ride? Just wondering,

I'm not too bummed about the cracks. I picked up second hand replacement frames for 350€ while sorting out the warranty both times.
Any frame will get damaged if ridden enough. Alloy frames crack, carbon frames delaminate, it's easy to check alloy frame for damage after a crash, carbon frame has to be x-rayed afaik.

Days, this year I've done month in Vinschgau, month Samoens and month in Finale, not riding every day, taking rest days and skipping worst weather.
